Passed away peacefully on December 25, 2015 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Forever loved by her late parents William and Kathleen and her predeceased sisters and brothers Mary Agnes, Catherine, Eleanor, John, Gerard, Philip and Louis. Predeceased by her sisters-in-law Dorothy, Carol and brother-in-law Howard. Survived by her sister-in-law Mary Jane Parsons of Mississauga. Lillian was a very special Aunt Joy to her 16 nieces and nephews and her 34 grandnieces and nephews. Joy's long and rewarding career in healthcare began as a Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in London, ON. Upon her arrival in Oakville in 1949 she took on the role of Obstetrical Supervisor at the temporary Oakville Hospital on First Street. Over the years she held more responsibilities and proudly became the Executive Director of the newly built OTMH, a position she held until her retirement in 1987. Following her retirement, Joy remained actively involved in the hospital community and the Lillian H. Parsons Bursary Fund. This special fund has proudly provided annual bursaries to assist the children of OTMH staff members with their post secondary education for over 25 years. Joy was without doubt one of those special people you might be so lucky to meet in your lifetime. Caring, genuine, compassionate and dedicated describe Joy's life in four simple words. Family and faith were always most important to her and she dedicated her life to both. Always there with a helping hand, Joy loved her travels abroad as well her special place on earth, at the family cottage on the Moon River in Bala Muskoka, since the early 1940s. She had continued on in good health over the years and recently sat in the front row at the ribbon cutting for the new Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, an indeed proud moment in history. Joy's family that played a special part in her needs after she gave up driving at 90 years old, allowing her to stay active in the community.
