Lori Ocon Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lori Lynne Ocon (Flett) at Foothills Hospital, Calgary, Alberta, on Monday, April 13th, 2015, in her 46th year. We release her to God's loving arms without pain and at peace. She will be deeply missed by her husband Roberto and her children Nicholas, Christian and Charlotte. Beloved daughter of David and Marlene Flett and cherished sister of Dawn and Alan Flett. She will also be missed by her father-in-law Roberto, brothers-in-law Gustavo (Elizabeth) and Martin (Alba) and sisters-in-law Lucila Granados (Manuel), Gloria Padilla (Jorge) and Martha and their families. Lori will be remembered for her love, strength and faith by her extended family and friends. For her children she embodied warmth, caring and love. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa (905-721-1234), on Friday, April 17th from 7-9 p.m. with a service in celebration of her life to be held Saturday, April 18th at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to Durham Regional Cancer Centre or St. Luke's Presbyterian Church.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Lori's passing. I am glad she went with peace and no pain. Lori was always a bright light, smart, kind, warm and welcoming to all. I will treasure both my high school and Queen's memories with her. I also remember Roberto from Queen's; what a wonderful man. Thank you for being a very special blessing to our family for nearly twenty years. We know you can see these words as we share them with the rest of your loved ones who are in great abundance. I hadn't spoken to Lori for maybe 15 to 18 years, yet I have such fond memories of her. I knew her in high school, but we became close friends in Grade 13, golfing together quite a few times and hanging out at her house with other friends. And we kept in touch during my two years at Queen's University, eventually drifting apart as our lives got more complicated and I moved away.
Lori was what I call a "true friend". A true friend is someone you can go five or ten years without speaking even once, but then just call them up, have a chat and a catch up and your friendship is just as strong as it ever was. No hard feelings about who should have called whom or why you didn't keep in touch. Just pure joy to be in contact again and find out what has been happening in each other's lives.
I can honestly say that I haven't met anyone as happy and positive as Lori in all my life. She was such a wonderful person to spend time with and I cherish those memories.
My deepest sympathies to Lori's parents, as well as Dawn, Alan, Roberto and the kids, and all of the extended family. She has gone to a better place and, while it's hard to let her go, she is at peace. So rest easy knowing she made the best of the limited time she had and think of all the joy she brought into your lives.

Karen and I are deeply saddened at Lori's passing. It was Lori that brought Karen and I together. Lori looked for someone with glasses in her physical geography lab and sat beside me. Great times on Bath Road in final year at Queen's with Trish. Without Lori, I may never have met Karen and been able to have our wonderful children, Patrick and Caillen.
