MARGARET MacLEAN Obituary

MacLEAN (CHAPPELLE), MARGARET CATHERINE (nee CURLEY) Our family is very saddened to announce the passing of Margaret Catherine MacLean, age 96, of Winsloe, Charlottetown, at the Whisperwood Villa on December 25, 2022. Margaret was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Keenan) Curley. She was predeceased by her husband, George Francis Chappelle; and her sister, Caroline Curley. She is survived by her daughter, Joanna English (Gary); grandchildren, Trevor English (Tricia), Derek English and Amber English (Jason); and great-grandchild, Ginevieve English. Later in life, fortunate to marry again, and predeceased by her husband, Arthur Melvin MacLean; and stepsons, John MacLean and Sterling MacLean (Marie). She is survived by her stepchildren, Barbara Hennessey (Robert), Edith Roberts (Lloyd), Harry MacLean (Melody), Gordon MacLean, Everett MacLean (Debbie), Lorne MacLean, Douglas MacLean (Marlene) and Terry MacLean (Andrea); and many stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret was born in West Royalty, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. She moved to Toronto, Ontario, married George and started a family in Scarborough. She worked at The Telegram newspaper in Toronto, then Scarborough General Hospital (Emergency) for 23 years. Margaret returned home to West Royalty 25 years later. She was fortunate to find love again with Arthur and married into a wonderful, loving family that blended beautifully with her own. Margaret was a very loving, caring, supportive figure to family, friends and others around her. She had a positive outlook on life, was known to have great wisdom, loved to dance and had a sense of humour with a quick wit. Margaret volunteered at Queen Elizabeth Hopsital, played music and sang in the Nursing Homes. She will be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved her. Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life will be held in Prince Edward Island at a time to be announced in the Spring.
