MARION THIVY Obituary

MARION KATHLEEN THIVY (nee KIDD) Age 59, dear soul and salt of the earth, taken suddenly on Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Hamilton (1955 - 2015). Most cherished daughter of Evelyn and Don Kidd, wife and pillar for Joe (Suresh) of 30 years and the best possible mother to her three children: Stephen (Stacey), Peter and Emma. A wonderful sister to her siblings and their spouses: Barb (Pierre), Rob (Darlene), Peter (Shannon), Doug and loved by the Kidd, McVey, Cruikshank, White and Cowan families. Born in Toronto, Marion attended Malvern Collegiate and Ryerson University, leading to a 22 year career at Rogers Communications. Her constitution, integrity and unflappability led to her position as a Vice-President in IT. She was a natural leader, much respected and even affectionately loved by her "team." Marion loved spending time with the groups of people she loved, whether it was singing Christmas carols with her family around the Christmas tree, enjoying the sun up at the cottage, or playing snooker on Wednesday nights at the Hamilton Air Force Club. After working long hours for most of her career, Marion retired on December 31, 2014 and was looking forward to spending her time at her favourite place, the Island. A modest cottage on "Kidd Island" with a newly built "Bunkie" on the mainland, she invariably would have spent the majority of her time watching the loons at sunsets in the summer and keeping the fire burning to keep warm in the winter. Marion was a woman of great patience, tolerance and forgiveness which her husband, family and friends, occasionally tested. She never let us down. A beautiful human being, strong and capable, but still delightfully simple and self-effacing. She loved things so deeply. And we, who knew her, are blessed for it. Thanks Marion for all that you gave us. We love you and will miss you. Visitation will be at Bay Gardens, 947 Rymal Rd. E., Hamilton, on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, 2-4 and 7- 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Westdale United Church, 99 North Oval St., Hamilton, on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow after the service. Parking permits will be available. Donations can be made to Wesley Urban Ministries, 151 Queen St. N., Hamilton. www.wesleyurbanministries.com

I worked with Marion when our companies collaborated on a project. You don't meet many people in business who are willing to be real. Marion was real. A brilliant, funny and real person. It was a pleasure working with her and a privilege to have known her. My sincere simpathy goes to those that loved her.
