WALKER, Marlene - April 22, 1953 - January 4, 2009 Suddenly and unexpectedly on January 4, 2009 at Toronto Western Hospital. Predeceased by her brother James Irons and father George Irons. Survived and greatly missed by her partner of twenty-six years Mike Duquette, her mother Stella (and Norm), her son Paul (and Sandra), daughter Tammy (and Ron), stepson Jason (and Michelle), niece Keri Lynn (and Erin). Grandchildren Jessica, Tyler, Zack and Kyah, and her beloved cats, Little Man, Walt and Gigi. After an incredibly courageous two year battle with a rare spinal cord cancer she succumbed to complications. She passed peacefully without pain. We have lost our ''Gimpy Girl'' and there is a great void in our lives and our hearts. Many heartfelt thanks to the many doctors, nurses and staff at the following hospitals: Ajax-Pickering, Scarborough Centenary, Scarborough General Main, Sunnybrook, Mt. Sinai, Princess Margaret, Toronto Western, Toronto Rehab-Lyndhurst, and Durham EMS. The combined incredible medical care gave us an additional two years to be touched by her warmth and spirit. The months at home were really special and will be fond memories in many hearts. Heaven is a huge Mall and a Casino, lots of sales and big winnings. Where she is now, there is no pain, she can walk and there are no wheelchairs. Memorial Visitation will take place at THE SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL CENTRE, 1057 Brock Road, Pickering, 905-686-5589 from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13th, 2009. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. in our Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to: Toronto Rehab, Lyndhurst Centre, Spinal Cord Rehab.
