Martha Mumford Obituary
MUMFORD, Martha Miller (nee Reesor) - Mom died gently and gracefully on June 5, 2010 at 90 years due to complications from a bad fall. She was a wonderful, loving mother and best friend to me, her daughter Sheila Howell and a joy to all who knew her. I was by mom's side when she left us, along with my cousin Margaret Carr, who has been my inspiration and loyal companion throughout these difficult months. Martha was the devoted wife for 62 years of the late Donald Mumford and had two older brothers, Jack and Bob Reesor, by whom she was predeceased. She has an older daughter Susan Emily Mumford living in England and her much loved granddaughter Lauren Jane Goff. Our cousins and their families were cherished by Martha and she took a keen interest in all of their lives. Martha grew up in Lindsay, Ontario and is a graduate of the University of Toronto. She was involved in United Church activities and was the volunteer president of the Big Sister Association. Her affiliation with this charitable organization continued as it evolved into Youthlink. If you wish to remember Martha in some way, please consider Youthlink or any charity of your choice. A Visitation is planned to celebrate Mom's life at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 14th, followed by a 2:00 p.m. Service and Reception at the Murray E. Newbigging Funeral Home, 733 Mt. Pleasant Road (south of Eglinton) in Toronto, 416-489-8811.
