Dr. Blackstein treated me for osteosarcoma in 1994 when I was 16. Years later, at 47, I still remember him fondly. He saved my life and helped me and my parents through a very difficult time. His sense of humor, his humanity, and his expertise were treasured by us. RIP Dr. Blackstein. Thank you.

Marty and I were med school classmates (6T5). Although we were on opposite ends of the class schedule, we were friends, and I always considered him as a clever, well-spoken classmate. I lost track of him after graduation, and next encountered him at the 50th class reunion in 2015, where he was the ad-hoc dinner host; his performance and his remarks were as clever as ever. I am sorry to hear of his loss, and extend my condolences to his family.

Dr. Blackstein was my mum, Mary Marshall´s oncologist for 19 years. His expertise, knowledge and humour helped my mum and all of our family enormously over many years. Martin was much respected and loved and will be remembered fondly by many people whose lives he touched and helped during the toughest times of their lives.

My name is Gillian Thomas. Marty and I were residents together at TGH (70/71). He was awesome to work with smart, very funny ,we shared many patients with his wisdom I became a better doctor.
I became an oncologist as well so our paths crossed frequently over many years. Truly an inspirational mentor and colleague without an ounce of ego.
My husband Michael Easterbrook was a meds school classmate and most recently his ophthalmologist.
We both valued him so much that we attended his funeral this morning and mourned with all family friends and colleagues ,his loss.
Fond memories live on
We think of all of his dear ones .
Sincerely
Gillian and Michael
