Mary was my boss at SJAM in Pickering. She and her friend Marie were two of the first female administrators in Durham, blazing a trail for others. She was tough, but fair. I admired her chutzpah and support when I needed it as a young teacher.
She had a real knack for staffing, seeing the strengths in people and sometimes pushing people out of their comfort zone.
Thanks Mary. You will not be forgotten!

Bill, Brian and Darlene please accept my deepest condolences. I am so sorry that I did not stay in touch with your mother. So many things that I wanted to ask her. She is with your dad now at peace. RIP Cuddles...

I'll always remember Mary as the first principal my boys Kevin and Brendan had (at John A. MacDonald Public School) - where she always made sure that the well-organized Christmas concerts never went longer than an hour! - and more recently as a faithful and active member of Pickering Village United Church, where I served on the Search Committee that Mary led ably and efficiently. We ended up selecting Steven Davis as our new minister and he proved to be an excellent choice.

I'll always remember Mary, initially as the first principal my boys Kevin and Brendan had (John A. MacDonald Public School) - where she always ensured that Christmas concerts and other assemblies never lasted more than an hour! - and more recently as a faithful and active member of Pickering Village United Church. She chaired the Search Committee I served on when we selected Steven Davis as our minister and he proved to be an excellent choice.
I'm sorry I wasn't able to attend the visitation, but I'm hoping to see the livestream coverage of the funeral service.
