MARY MEACOCK Obituary

MEACOCK, MARY LYNNE (nee SOADY-EASTON) April 5, 1939 - January 5, 2023 Lynne passed away peacefully, at Ed's House Hospice, in Cobourg, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 83. Lynne was recently widowed by her cherished husband of 63 years, William "Bill" Meacock. She is the much-loved mother to Heather (Keith) and Bruce (Liz). Lynne will be sadly missed by her sister, Catherine "Bunny" MacKinnon; sister-in-law, Joyce Meacock; her loving dog, Sandy; and her many extended family members. She cherished being an Aunt, Godmother, Great-Aunt, Great-Great-Aunt and Nana. Lynne's zest for life endeared her to all, and she made friends from every facet of her life - childhood, work, golf, community, church, volunteering, retirement - and will be deeply missed by the many who called her friend. Lynne was a long-standing volunteer with the Campbellford Hospital Auxiliary, a 30-year member of the Catholic Women's League of Canada and an avid golfer - a sport that she took up in her 50's and went on to become Amateur Seniors' Champion in multiple handicap brackets. She had a love for animals, enjoyed travel and was a dedicated Toronto Maple Leafs fan. She was Mitch Marner's number one fan. Lynne lived life fully and generously, touching many lives. She leaves a legacy of bright memories and stories for friends and family to share. The family would like to thank Dr. Mulé as well as the wonderful staff and volunteers at Ed's House Hospice for their care, compassion and grace. And our heartfelt thanks to Lynne's great-niece, Sandra, for all her love and assistance. As was Lynne's wish, there will be a private remembrance and celebration of life. Those wishing may make a donation to Ed's House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation, dedicating it in memory of Lynne Meacock, https://edshouse.northumberlandhospice.ca/. Memories of Lynne or expressions of condolence for the family may be shared online at www.weaverfuneralhomes.com. If desired, sympathy cards for the family may be sent care of: The Meacock Family, c/o Weaver Funeral Homes, 29 Bay St., Trenton, ON K8V 1H2.

I knew when we worked together at Canadian Tire. She was a huge help to me - just starting out in life.
I came to realize that she and my mother Elaine Hanson (Smithbower) were extremely close - referring to each other as little/big sis. My mother Elaine just died a week ago so I'm sure they be catching up together and laughing enthusiastically.

I am heartbroken upon finding this just today. I have known Lynne since 1st grade making it about 78 years. I have many fond memories throughout the years.
My condolences to Heather Lynne and Bruce on the loss of both your parents.

I was wondering why my messages had gone unanswered from one of my favourite people. I am so sad to see the posts below detailing your passing, Auntie Lynne. I know the past few months were very difficult, but I find comfort knowing that you are out of pain and reunited with sweet Uncle Bill, and so many other wonderful people. Please give Granny, Poppy, and my Dad a big hug and kiss for us. I hope that through the entirety of your life, you always knew how deeply loved and special you were. I will never forget our last phone call a couple months ago now, catching up and filling each other in on daily happenings. You are incredibly missed, Auntie Lynne. We are sending our love and strength to all who will need it to overcome the pain they are surely feeling right now. This is a major loss to all who had the pleasure of knowing such a wonderful person as yourself. We love you so much.
