SPANKIE, Mary April 28, 1921 – March 11, 2018 Mary passed away peacefully at her home in Mississauga, early Sunday morning, March 11, 2018, in her 97th year. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Malcolm Spankie. Loving mother of Joan (Ron Morin), Elizabeth (Robert Tétreault), Heather (Ron Courte), Elaine (David Shaw) and Barbara. She was the very proud Nanny of nine grandchildren and their spouses (Sonia, Kristina, Carolyn and David; VaIerie and Daniel; Sarah and Emma; and Cole), as well as 18 great-grandchildren. Those who knew Mary will remember that she enjoyed camping in Algonquin Provincial Park, trips to Myrtle Beach and celebrations with family and friends. Visitation will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, on Wednesday, March 14th from 7:00-9:00 p.m.; and Thursday, March 15th from 1:00-2:00 p.m. A funeral service and celebration of her life will take place in the chapel immediately following visitation Thursday. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (Lewy Body Dementia), or World Vision Canada.
