Mary TREASURE Obituary
TREASURE, Mary Isabel (nee Simpson) - March 31, 1930 - April 15, 2014 Suddenly and unexpectedly on April 15, 2014 at Scarborough General Hospital. Beloved, loyal and dedicated wife of 62 years of Ross Seward Treasure. Loving and devoted mother of Stephen Treasure (Chris Hall) and Dean Treasure (Janice). Dear grandmother to Julian, Tristan, Ruth, Lydia and William. Dearly missed by her sister Margaret Nicholls and brother John Worsley Simpson (Colleen) and her many nieces and nephews. Fondly remembered by step-sister Elsie Hobley of Yorkshire, England and by friends and family in many parts of the UK. Sadly missed by Gwen and Gary Brough and family who shared many happy memories of family occasions. Growing up and attending school in Bradford, Yorkshire, Mary loved the Dales and moors of the countryside before she and Margaret had to leave England as young war guests in order to begin life anew in Canada. Outgoing, beautiful and elegant, Mary met her beloved soul mate Ross and they married on June 7, 1952 at Donlands United Church. Over the years, Mary pursued a successful career as a legal secretary working for several Toronto firms including Aird & Berlis. She graduated with an Honours B.A. at the University of Toronto, Scarborough College. She will be deeply missed by many friends who enjoyed her sparkling wit and knowledge of books and good literature, her gift of keen insight and analysis, her amazing capacity for telling great and entertaining stories and her enthusiasm and passion for Bridge and good company. Over the past 22 years, Mary served as a volunteer on many community projects. Most recently she served over 6 years on the Condominium Board of Directors for 10 Guildwood Parkway where her dedication, integrity and concern on behalf of the community will be sorely missed. In keeping with family wishes, arrangements have already taken place privately. Friends and family are welcome to attend an informal celebration and memorial to be held in the reception room at the Gates of Guildwood Condominium Reception Room on Sunday, May 11, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Words of welcome and tribute will be delivered at 3:00 p.m.
