Michael BARBETTA Obituary

BARBETTA, Michael (Mike) Archangelo One day shy of Mike's 85th birthday, the world lost a legend. Mike grew up in Toronto, the youngest of 8 children born to Thomas (Gaetano) and Catherine. He had a passion for sports, playing football and baseball well into his golden years. He enjoyed a lengthy career at Air Canada, where he would meet his bride, Robin (née Kornack, deceased). They married in 1966 and reaped the benefits of working in the airline industry, travelling extensively, collecting memories and matchbooks. Mike had a passion for music and enjoyed spending hours compiling playlists for friends and family, from his extensive collection. Mike drew the respect of all who knew him. Not one to ask for help himself, he was always quick to offer a hand to others, often in understated, yet impactful, ways. Remembering him with love and affection are his daughters, Stacey, Leslie (Jim), Marisa, and Heather; his dear brother (and fellow cowboy), Sam; many nieces, nephews, colleagues, and a wonderful network of great friends. He was the proud Papa to his granddaughter and best buddy, Camille. A special thank you to cousin, Cathy Evans Barbetta. We'll greatly miss him. A celebration of Mike's life will be held Saturday, April 8th at McKersie & Early Funeral Home, in Milton. Visit www.mckersie-kocher.ca to leave messages of condolence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sleeping Children Around the World (www.scaw.org) or a Charity of Your Choice.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mike. I knew Mike when he was playing ball with my late husband Williard. Mike was a true gentleman and it has been an honour to have known him. RIP. We have lost a kind man.

Not just My brother and my best friend. Smallest kid on our street where we played baseball, football, can cricket , he was most competitive . When we chose teams one of our captains Wilf Windsor would always say I´ll take Mikey - he could catch a football in a crowd. When we were kids he never did anything without asking me- "is it ok Sam ?".Mom would send us to bed - do we have to Sam ? .Dearly loved by all of the family , me and all who knew him . RIP Mike - your brother Sam

One of the "nicest individuals" I ever had the benefit of knowing. A true gentleman, husband and father, and one of the most competitive athletes I ever played with or against. Michael is now united with Robin in Heaven, and will be sorely missed. RIP !!
