Michael Cook Obituary

COOK, Michael John Russell - The family of Michael Cook is deeply saddened to announce his sudden and unexpected passing on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at the age of 53 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Michael leaves behind his loving wife, Kerry (nee Bush), daughter Jordan and son Barrett. He is also survived by his mother, Helaine Cook of Burlington and his sisters and their husbands, Kathryn and Mike O'Rourke of Markdale, Lesley and Peter Kraus of Midhurst. He was predeceased by his father Alan. Mike will also be deeply missed by his lifelong friend Rick Winnik and his wife Mary of Oakville. He will also be sadly mourned by his mother-in-law Dorothy Bush and his sisters-in-law and their husbands, Leslie Bush- Harriss, Kim and Hal Gould, Lindsey and Nick Dragone and his many loving nieces and nephews. Michael was born in Stevenage, England, but moved to Toronto at a young age and attended St. Michael's College School where he was a valued member of the football team. After his post-secondary years, Michael was a well-respected member of the printing and paper industry and was Sales Manager with Buntin Reid/Domtar Paper in Mississauga. He was a devoted husband and father and it was one of the highlights of his life to recently witness the graduation of both his children from university and the launching of their careers. He was a passionate golfer and enjoyed few things more than a round in Niagara with his friend Rick followed by a good meal with their wives rounding out the foursome. Visitation will be held at the Glen Oaks Memorial Chapel and Reception Centre, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville (at Dundas) from Wednesday 6-9 pm. Funeral Service Thursday, November 25, 2010 in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. If you wish, donations may be made in Mike's memory to St. Michael's College School Toronto In Memoriam or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
