MICHAEL KILLEAVY Obituary

Michael Patrick Killeavy
August 3, 1936 – November 13, 2021

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Michael Patrick Killeavy at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, after a long, hard fight with aplastic anemia and numerous related health issues. Mike was a loving husband to Judy for nearly 44 years, and he was the love of Judy's life. Family meant everything to Mike, and he was the proud father of Michael, Colleen (Joe), Mary (Joe), Chris (Andrea), and very proud Poppa of Brendan, Elizabeth, Liam, JP, and Michael, and beloved brother-in-law of Gail (Bill). He was predeceased by sisters, Terri Markell (Barney), Doreen Dick (Bruce), Colleen Cosgrove (Carmel). He also had many nieces and nephews whose company he always enjoyed. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events, even the early morning outings, and never missed an opportunity to coach from the bleachers! Mike will be remembered for his wit and sense of humour. An Irishman through and through, he could tell a story or a joke like no one else. He was also an ardent jazz fan and instilled that love into his children. A proud graduate of St. Michael's College School, Mike played lacrosse for the Toronto Green Gaels in his early years, and tended goal for St. Mike's in the OHL. He also coached hockey and lacrosse in Mississauga for many years. Mike retired from Ford Motor Company in 1993, after 32 years with the company. The family would like to thank Faulkner Stewart, and son, for their referral to Dr. John Kelton, a very compassionate and caring doctor at McMaster University Medical Centre, who saved Mike's life 31 years ago. For those who wish, donations in Mike's memory to support Hematology Research at McMaster University may be made at impact.mcmaster.ca/take-action. Visitation will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home- Crestview Chapel, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. As per COVID protocol and at the family's request, those attending will need to show proof of full vaccination.
