MICHAEL LEACH Obituary

LEACH, MICHAEL PAUL A great man, husband, father, grandad and partner has departed. It is with great sadness that the family of Michael (Mike) Leach announces his passing December 30, 2021, after fighting a heroic battle with cancer. Mike grew up in the west end of Toronto, attended Runnymede Collegiate and worked in various management roles for more than 35 years for Kodak Canada, until his retirement in 2003. Mike was an avid golf player who could be seen on the golf course on any good day here and in Florida in the winters. Mike was predeceased by his wife, Hazel (nee Alford), wife of more then 40 years. He was a great father, coach and mentor to his two sons: Jason and his fiancée, Melinda, grandsons, Jack and Carter, of. Burlington; and son, Darren and his wife, Lyndsey, soon-to-be new parents, of Dallas, Texas. Mike lived with his partner, Donna Lacka (Smith), in Stoney Creek, for the past 8 years. Words cannot explain what a wonderful, honest, good man Mike was. His boys and grandsons were his life. He loved to play golf every opportunity he could - he worked at Crosswinds Golf Course, as a starter. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. Please RSVP in advance at www.smithsfh.com. All visitors must wear a face mask and follow COVID protocol. A Celebration of Life and future golf tournament in his name will be planned for in the spring of 2022.

Mike was a close friend in high school days, A great golfer and a great friend--always smiling!! Got together with friends for Mike's surprise b'day party for his 50th or 55th, and great re-acquainting after so many years. We went on a Hawaii cruise with Hazel and Mike and friends--had a great time.
Our sympathies to his family--Mike RIP-you were a very special friend.

Our Deepest Sympathies to you and your family. Please accept our Condolences. My Brother and I are one of many who grew up knowing Mike (Chopper) as a great friend. There are so many memories to reflect on and remember. Early on Mike invited me to play Lambton G.C. and being older I thought we would be pretty close in score. Results were that I did play well and shot 77 but I was no match to Mike's casual round of 65. Those days were a wonderful time for all of us and "Chopper" will be deeply missed. He was very special.
