Michael Webb Obituary

MICHAEL DAVID WEBB July 23, 1957 - November 7, 2011 Unexpectedly at his home in Coquitlam, BC Michael died after suffering a heart attack. Michael leaves his wife Terry, son Connor (Darlene Hornsby), sisters Carolyn and Joanne, and his 2 yellow labs Bianca and Apollo. Michael grew up in Etobicoke, and after studying theatre arts, began a 30 year career in the film industry in set design and special effects in both Toronto and Vancouver. Michael had a love of the outdoors and translated this as a documentary filmmaker that found him joining the protest at Clayoquot Sound where he was arrested after chaining himself to a tree! He was the founder and first Commodore of the "Counter Culture Yacht Club" in Port Elgin. Michael lived his life as he worked - theatrically and with passion - a celebration of his life will be held at the Vancouver Buddhist Temple, 220 Jackson Avenue, Vancouver on November 11 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, it would be Michael's wish that you make a donation to the BC SPCA.

I am so sorry to hear of Michaels passing. I met him the first day of theatre school in 1978. He quickly became a good friend not only to me but to David Scammell, Peter Swanek, Jim Brown, Paul McConvey, Nadra Muzafar and others in our class. We had lots of great times together and although I had not seen him in a few years, we had emailed and kept in touch through my sister Nancy. We will miss you Michael!

Look off dear Love,
across the sallow sands,
And mark you meeting of the sand and sea;
How long they kiss in sight of all the lands.
Ah! longer, longer

He protected her with everything he had! Such a strong,loyal husband:) But if life is about showing Love to others, then well done Michael, my sister Ter was loved...... Please accept our sympathy for the loss of a brother, father, husband and friend.. I have fond memories of Michael in our growing up years, and he indeed lived life to the fullest, but it shouldn't have ended this early. I hope you all find peace and comfort - as Michael is reunited with his Brother, Mother and Father.

Dearest Joanne and Carolyn - I am so sad that you have suffered yet another loss in your family. I remember meeting Michael at a family gathering back in the 80s. Although the encounter was brief, I still remember how beautiful and striking he was - I can well imagine him chained to a tree for a good cause. You are both in my thoughts and prayers.
