Nancy Holman-Arthurs Obituary
HOLMAN-ARTHURS, Nancy Lee - Passed away at age 53, on December 12, 2008 at her home in Powassan, surrounded by her family and caregivers. She leaves her loving sons Evan, Lucas and Steven and mother-in-law Barbara Rogers of Powassan. Predeceased by her dear husband James Norman Arthurs 1956 - 2006. Also predeceased by her parents Merle Russell Holman (1925 - 1995) and Anne Priscilla Holman (1926 - 2008). Beloved sister of Steven Holman (wife Nancy) and aunt of Christopher and Emma of Burlington. Dearly missed by stepson James of Morrisburg, brother-in-law Robert of Restoule and sisters-in-law Joan Brett of Belleville, Juanita Arthurs and Frances O'Halloran (husband Jim) of Prescott. Also missed by dear friend Michael Kornas, who was a pillar of support in so many ways. Nancy's final journey was not an easy one, and the family expresses their heartfelt thanks for all the support provided by the North Bay Palliative Care Network, Heather McGuinty of the North Bay CCAC, VON staff Pam Anderson and Cindy Craig, the Red Cross, Bonnie Steinman and countless friends, neighbours and co-workers. Nancy was born in Toronto and moved north in 1997 with Norman to raise the children in their rambling century home in Powassan. She loved her community and was delighted to be close to the family cottage at Restoule, where she spent her final summer. Nancy was a dental hygienist who retired from the Dental office at CFB North Bay in 2007. She was a valued employee and colleague to many staff at the base. Funeral services have been entrusted to the Whispering Pines Funeral Home, 15 King Street, Powassan, ON, 705-724-9734. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, December 16 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. in the Whispering Pines Chapel, Powassan. In lieu of flowers, donations to the VON would be greatly appreciated.
