I will always remember with gratitude my first introduction to Neil when I was serving as the "archivist" of my local United Church in my early 20s. Neil spent an afternoon providing me with the basics of archival arrangement (and a free box of acid-free file folders, which were like gold in the 1980s!) In later years, I worked at the United Church Archives and saw Dr. Semple on a daily basis combing through the records in the Reading Room of the Birge-Carnegie Library as the consummate researcher that he was.
