Mr Sorbie was my gym teacher when I was a student at Duke of York, class of 1998. He was a wonderful teacher/coach, I wish I had gotten the chance to see/greet him as an adult. Teachers play such an important figure in children's lives.

Neil's passion for rugby knew no bounds. He was a gifted and fiercely competitive player and coach. It was a privilege to have shared and enjoyed some of that part of his life with him. My heartfelt sympathy to Monica and family.

We were adversaries many years ago on the pitch but happened to reconnect at PMH and had many interesting conversations. In typical Neil fashion, there was a lot of black humour and a great deal of laughter. Condolences to Monica and family. Neil will be missed!

Although I played rugby against Neil "way back", I always thought of him as a skilled rugby player who played in the true spirit of the game and was friendly to all.

I remember my first true introduction to Neil as he tap danced in the lobby of our hotel in Freeport, Bahamas...my first Rugby tour! The man was a master of the fake pass and side step. Sadly missed.....
Cheers,
Charlie McGregor,

A fine sportsman...

Neil was a wonderful person. I played shinny with him for over 20 years, and my 2 younger children were taught by him. He was known to them as "Mr Holy Moly strap." What a guy.

Neil and I played many years of shinny hockey down in the beach at kew gardens. I will miss his sense of humour, the champagne he brought down to open the hockey season and his keeping the score in french. It is a sad day.
