Nell(ie) Bidell Obituary

NELL(IE) BIDELL (nee KALYNOWICH) June 13, 1924 - October 3, 2008 It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Nell on Friday, October 3, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Cherished wife for over 61 years of William (Bill), beloved mother of Joan, Kathy (Kimball), and Stephen (Cheryl). Loving grandmother of Hannah and Nicholas. Sister of the late Henry Kalen of Winnipeg; predeceased by her parents, Mary and Stephen Kalynowich. Nell was born in Winnipeg, where she met and married Bill. In 1947, they moved to Toronto. An accomplished musician, she played violin and later viola with the North York Symphony, Scarborough Philharmonic, Trinity Camber Ensemble, and numerous other chamber and orchestral groups. She was also a member of the South Muskoka Curling and Golf Club in Bracebridge and a former member of Ashbridge's Bay Yacht Club. She was a brave and courageous person, even in the face of her illness, never complaining once about her fate. Nell's strength of character and generous, kind heart will be forever remembered by her family and many dear friends. We would like to thank the staff at Chester Village in Scarborough for their care and compassion. There will be a celebration of Nell's life at Henley Gardens, 1091 Kingston Road, Scarborough. Cremation has taken place. No formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice in Nell's name would be appreciated.

It was a privilege and pleasure to have had the opportunity to have played in the chamber group with Nell. She certainly was one fine lady and didn't deserve to suffer.I will remember her fondly.
