SPUDAS, Ona April 24, 1924 - April 6, 2022 Ona (Onute) Spudas (nee Lipnickaite) was born in Kaunas, Lithuania, in 1924, the youngest of five children of Katrina and Kazimeras. Onute's parents, siblings, and their children all tragically perished in a single incident during the family's escape from Lithuania during the Second World War. Onute came to Canada in 1948, arriving first in Quebec, and later moving to Toronto where she met her future husband Eugene Spudas. Eugene and Onute married in 1950 and lived happily in Toronto, where Eugene had a successful career with Ontario Hydro. They travelled extensively and - upon retirement - wintered at their second home in St. Petersburg Beach, Florida. Onute is survived by her brother-in-law Dr. Alexander Spudas, sister-in-law Birute Spudas and beloved nieces Monika Spudas (David Hearn) and Ilona Spudas, all of Toronto. In her final years, Onute resided at Labdara Lithuanian Nursing Home. Her family extends sincere thanks to past and present Labdara staff all of whom provided her with exceptional care. Due to COVID precautions, a private Funeral Mass was held at the Lithuanian Resurrection Parish (Prisikelimo Parapija) on April 11th, followed by interment at St. John's Lithuanian Cemetery in Mississauga Online condolences available at
