HUGHES, PATRICIA JOYCE (nee ALLEN) September 14, 1934 - October 1, 2018 Pat, beloved wife of James Hughes (deceased) passed away in her 85th year, with her loving son Robert (Cathie Poynter) by her side at Sunnybrook Hospital on Monday, October 1, 2018. Pat taught elementary school for Scarborough Board; Teachers' College (North Bay; Toronto) and became Supervisory Officer for the Ministry of Education. Author of In Other Words, a thesaurus for schools that is still in use, Pat was dedicated to education, President of her teachers union and advanced the cause of women in their fields. Her vivacity, generosity and kindness to all will be greatly missed by family and friends. Service at PINE HILLS CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough (north of St. Clair Ave. E., 416-267-8229), on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation. in lieu of flowers.
