PATRICK LAMPING Obituary

LAMPING, PATRICK LESLEY May 3, 1944 – August 17, 2022 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Patrick Lesley Lamping, aged 78. Left to mourn are his beloved wife, Netta (Chinn) Lamping; his children, Tracey Lamping (Leigh Youd) and Jeff Lamping; his grandchildren, Charlotte Youd and Alexander Lamping; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a large group of loving friends. Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Ida (Moynihan) Lamping; his brother, Terry Lamping; and his sister, Sandra (Lamping) Miles. Pat was born in Toronto and spent much of his youth in the Bloor and Dufferin area. During the oil sands boom of the 70's, Pat and son Jeff moved to Fort McMurray, Alberta, to work at Syncrude as a Heavy Duty Mechanic and eventually a supervisor. Retiring in 1996, Pat and Netta travelled extensively before settling in Lavoy, Alberta, where Pat proudly built their house. Pat lived life to the fullest. He always had a wide smile and a quick wit, loved to cook and entertain and could always be counted on to lend his keen mechanical skills and recycle everything in sight. Pat and Netta eventually became snowbirds in Yuma, Arizona, making many memories and good friends. More than anything though, Pat loved his family. He was up for any adventure, was a voracious reader, intellectually curious and always engaged. Pat will be monumentally missed but forever in our hearts and memories. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Salvation Army, the Cross Cancer Centre Volunteers of the Alberta Cancer Foundation, or the Dolly Parton Imagination Library of Canada.

Netta, we are shocked and saddened by the passing of your beloved Pat. We will never forget the 7 wonderful years that we were able to enjoy the winter months in Yuma with two of the most upbeat and truly caring people that we knew. We will never forget the fun times and especially the Newfie occasions the two of you arranged. Please accept our deepest condolences to you and your family.
