I was away and just heard the devastating news. I wish I could do or say something to make you and your family feel better but I'm at a loss for words. I can only say that I am so very sorry for this irreparable loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you and hope that you find the strength to go on with the love and support of your family and the many friends your son had. Pat lit up my life as a camper at Pickering Sports Camp and then I was fortunate enough to reunite with him in our adult lives as friends. To his family, I am so sorry for your loss. He is a phenominal man, I was so lucky to know. He will forever be a smiling face in my memories.

Tom, I am so sorry for you and your family. It seems so unfair that this has happened to one of the nicest (well except for Gate 4s...), most caring, and most generous person I know. If it were at all humanly possible I know you would have driven from Barbados to Toronto to give Patrick or any of us a ride if we needed it. You're always looking out for everybody. Patrick was my son's first friend, becoming acquainted in the spring of 1988. Those "absorbent years" were filled with wonder and joy! I recall the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles craze, video games, invitations to the ever generous O'Sullivan pool and home, road hockey games that included "Forever Young" dads - beautiful memories filled with smiling faces of our closeknit street community and neighbourhood kids whose futures looked as bright as the morning sun. Personally, I have been devastated by the sudden departure of Paddy, but find comfort in the bosom of The Lord whose agape love and grace are available to all of us. Tom, Valerie, Michael & Katie: what words can I offer you to ease your pain? Look to God: "Casting all you care upon Him, because He cares about you." (1 Peter 5:7).

I only knew Patrick for a couple years playing hockey together. His amazing sense of humour made our whole team laugh. He was an amazing person and a great hockey player. We will sorely miss him this coming season.
