NEARY, PAUL DESTREY June 27, 1933 - April 25, 2023 Paul has found his Shangri-la! He peacefully passed away, surrounded by "the love of his life," Joyce (Foster); his son, Ryan (Orion), with his wife, Yen (Nguyen); and by his beautiful grandchildren, Hunter and Scarlett. He was music; professional drummer and teacher. He was magic; The Great Schlep, and Toytown Puppets. He was ministry; Pastor Emeritus, Knox United and New St. Paul's United. Paul touched the lives of many, sharing his love of family, his knowledge, his love of the Lord, and definitely his sense of humour. Special thanks to the staff at Mackenzie Health Long Term Care for their gentle care and support, and to Marshall Funeral Home. A Celebration of Paul's Life will be held at New Hope United Church on Saturday, May 6, 2023, 9100 Jane St., Building E, Unit 37-43. Visitation will be held from 1 - 2 p.m. Service will follow at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the youth group at New Hope United Church. Dear Joyce, Ryan, Yen, Hunter and Scarlett: Even though we knew his passing was imminent and we prayed for his easy transition, our visions of Paul and his irrepressible smile caused us to find it hard to imagine. Joanne and I regret that this time of loss has come upon you. However, we do thank God for the gifts God gave us in Paul and that finally Paul has been set free.
Now, there is surely more percussion in Heaven.
Joanne and I continue to pray for you, Joyce, Ryan, Yen, Hunter and Scarlett, that you will feel the wings of angels lifting you up and softly guiding you in these days and in the times to come. We will always love and remember Paul. Love. Dan and Joanne Yourkevich

Joyce and Ryan, I was saddened to hear of Paul's passing. He was such a special person with so many talents. He held us together and helped us go on when things were so bad at Knox in Agincourt.
