PAUL RODWELL Obituary

RODWELL, PAUL THOMAS July 14, 1952 - August 25, 2021 Paul, known to many as "Rocky", passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was an adoring father to Katie and Leslie, a loving husband of 41 years to Barbara, Uncle to Amy and a very special friend and mentor to many. Paul was predeceased by his mother and father Margaret and Bernard Rodwell and his brother and best friend Michael Rodwell. Paul grew up in the area of Toronto best known as "the beaches" where he met a special group of lifelong friends. Those friends created a hockey team called the 'Brokers' and is where Paul got his nickname Rocky. His friends from the Brokers have a rare and special bond and have had the unique opportunity to really go through life together. One of those Brokers also had a little sister who one day down the road would become Paul's wife, Barbara. The next chapter of his life was as a Bay Street powerhouse, where Rocky lived up to his nickname, by working hard and playing hard! He had an illustrious career that has left a lasting legacy, but more importantly he met another group of people that became friends he would cherish forever Paul has had so many accomplishments in his life, but his favourite and the one he was always most proud of was raising daughters Katie and Leslie with Barbara. There was nothing more important to him than spending time with his three special girls. He had a passion for golf and loved sharing that passion with them, as well as his love for travel and living life to its fullest. Paul was an extremely kind, compassionate and generous person and took pride in instilling those values in his children. Spending time at the cottages in Haliburton was one of his most beloved past times, he especially loved sharing it with his friends, family and ALL of Katie and Leslie's friends and their families, especially the kids! In true Rocky fashion he made another special group of friends up north that completed his rich life of friendships He has left us all with so many memories to cherish. It was a life lived to the fullest and a life that will be missed by so very many. A visitation will take place at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home 2900 Kingston Rd., Sunday, August 29th 5-8 p.m. and Monday, August 30th 12-3 and 5-8 p.m. Please look at the website for sign up. A Celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Sunnybrook Hospital or Michael Garron Hospital would be appreciated.

To Barbara and Leslie and Katie my sincere condolences. Paul and I go back a long long way as colleagues and friends. We always enjoyed the good times at BMO even though we worked in different cities. I especially loved our annual golf week in Orlando. Rest In Peace my friend. Until we meet again

Barb there are no words that can express the sadness I feel for you and the girls. I know how your heart is filled with sorrow but I read this a few months ago and it did help me, I hope you find some comfort in it as well. " A heart that does not feel pain is a heart that never knew true LOVE". I am praying for strength for you, Leslie and Katie. I am just a call away if ever you want to talk.

It was November/2013 when I first met Paul. He was on his lawn putting up Christmas decorations. My family had just moved into the house next door. He greeted me with a smile and we instantly connected. It was like a spark had ignited and quickly we became good friends. Paul loved his family and he provided for them very well. He had a huge circle of friends and his generosity level ran at an all time high. The loss of such a powerful presence in our community has left us with a huge void but the memories are cherished and will live on. Rest in peace sweet soul. Marian and Ron Jones.

My sincere condolences go to you Barbara, Katie and Leslie. Rocky was a great guy and really good friend. He will be missed. Over the last 45 years I have enjoyed many good times with Rocky at both work and on the golf course. Your visits to Nova Scotia were a highlight.
