PEGGY DUNBAR Obituary

DUNBAR, PEGGY LYNN (nee ABLE) September 10, 1951 – September 29, 2022 Peggy Lynn Dunbar passed away Thursday, September 29th at Hospice Huntsville after a valiant three-year battle with cancer. Daughter of Jack William and Mary Able (ne Kennedy Stewart Beattie). Loving wife of Grant Drew-Brook Dunbar, beloved mother to Stewart (Coryn) and Hawley (Tristan). Adoring sister to David Able (Donna), sister-in-law to Victoria Koudstaal (Erik), aunt to Mark and Ian. Peggy continued her lifelong traditions of art, baking, and gardening and delighted in sharing the fruits of her labours widely among friends and family. She spent her working years at Eaton's for nearly a decade and retiring after twenty-five years at Mississauga Library System. As a gifted artist, Peggy excelled at painting, drawing, silk-screening, and quilting. She ensured no birthday, milestone or holiday was missed, marking every occasion with the timely arrival of a hand-painted card adorned playfully with scenes that embodied her cheerful and curious spirit. She was proud of her genealogy, keenly aware her skill as a baker was connected to many other generations of her family. True to how important she was to her family, her highly anticipated shortbread, pies, and butter tarts were the highlight of every family gathering. Especially important was Christmas, where she worked tirelessly for weeks, baking tins of cookies to give away to beloved family members-before preparing delightful pies and Christmas dinner. Though her disease made her unable to eat in her final months, she still baked generously without occasion, to spread lasting joy that her family will remember most fondly. She spent her final days quietly at the cottage on Lake of Bays tending to her love of gardening, ensuring her climbing roses, Lilies, Sedum, or marigolds were bright and beautiful. Peggy embodied beauty, generosity, and incredible strength of spirit in everything she did and will live on in the lives of those she touched. The family would like to thank Mississauga-Halton as well as Simcoe North Muskoka Home and Community Care and Hospice Huntsville for their thoughtful care and compassion. In the spirit of giving that so epitomized Peggy's spirit, please donate to the Charity of Your Choice in her name. Messages of condolence can be left at billingsleyfuneralhome.com
