Peter BAIN Obituary

BAIN, Peter John (Ian) It is with great sadness that the family of Ian Bain announces his passing on Saturday, November 4th, 2017. A private service was held. Ian is lovingly remembered by Vivien, his wife of 40 years and their children Bradley, Warren and Mikaela. He will be dearly missed by cousins Susan, Julie and Brandon. Ian was born in Dumbarton, Scotland in 1945 and moved to Canada with his late brother David, in 1960. He proudly celebrated a 44 year career with the Toronto Star. Ian was hard working, kind, honest and loved to golf and laugh. If desired, donations to Shepherd Lodge would be appreciated.

I was so sorry to hear this sad news. I had the pleasure of working with Ian at the Star as his Admin. Asst. He was a good, kind man and was so proud of his wife and family. His face lit up whenever he mentioned them. I thoroughly enjoyed the years that I worked with Ian. He had a great sense of humour, and a big booming laugh that I'll never forget. R.I.P. Ian. I'll catch you on the other side where we can share a Scotch and some more laughs.

I learned of Ian's passing from one of his past close colleagues from the Star. I had the good fortune to work closely with Ian, but as a very satisfied travel industry client over many years. He was a pleasure to deal with and through...a man of integrity and very proud to represent the Star. I got to know and enjoy him personally through our mutual love of golf. he will definitely be missed.

I am very saddened to hear of Ian's passing. Ian was my first manager in the Toronto Star ad department when he led the team at Starweek. I had the pleasure also of playing golf with him a number of times. I never could beat him:-) He was hard working, dedicated and very respectful. My deepest sympathy to Vivian and the family. Rest in peace my friend.
