PETER SNAITH Obituary

SNAITH, PETER FREDERICK (1937-2021) Peter passed away at his home in Oshawa, on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, having defied the effects of a heart attack since 2012. Peter enjoyed his time engaged in travel, hobbies, clubs, and reading about politics, history, science and technology. He was a bright and complex man who enjoyed socializing and was always ready to discuss or debate a myriad of topics. Peter's special passions were flying and aviation, British cars, and military history. He was a civilian member of the Air Force 420 Wing, The Ontario Regiment, the Royal Canadian Military Institute, and Branch 637 Royal Canadian Legion, as well as many car clubs and airplane organizations. Peter was retired from a longtime position as Teacher and Guidance Counsellor at O'Neill Collegiate, and as real estate agent in the Durham region. Peter will be dearly missed by many, including daughters, Kianda (Wes and Fletcher) and Rhiannon, and longtime partner, Gail Elliott. A Celebration of Life is postponed at this time.

Richard Haram - on behalf of Ron Haram's family - Valerie, Rachel & Richard

May 25, 2022

So sorry to read this news about Peter and our thoughts and prayers are very much with you as a family. Peter was a close friend of my fathers from their days together in Uganda in the 1960s. These years for sure made many lasting impressions and memories for them both including trips and photos outside Kampala and they kept in contact also during Peters UK visits until my father passed away. We were extremely grateful as a family that Peter came to my father's funeral in the UK in the 90s and also kept in touch with my Mum over the years. It was also a privilege to meet up in Canada during a visit in May 2000 together with my wife and children. He was an incredibly spritely and energetic man who always brought lively insights to any discussion. He will for sure be greatly missed by you all as a family and we wish you well as you adjust to this. Safari Salama Peter ... Lots of Love from Ron Harams family - Valerie, Rachel and Richard Haram xxx.

I wanted to offer my condolences to the family. I met Mr. Snaith when I was commissioned from the ranks. I didn't have the first clue how to be an officer and gentleman...Thank god he took pity on me and took me under his wing! I owe him a debt of gratitude. He and Mr. Doyle not only taught me how to act as an Officer and Gentleman, but he was also always there to give me advice and point me in the right direction. Even when I didn't ask for it, like that "cool uncle", he gave it to me if I asked for it or not, and to this day...I am very thankful he did. I'm not sure what the afterlife holds, but I can guaranty he's not just on the "List" but they have the VIP package waiting for him. Thank you for everything! You will be greatly missed!
