TZEMIS, Polymnia It is with great sorrow and deep respect that I announce the passing of my mother Polymnia Tzemis on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, January 17, 1919 my mother lived a full and blessed life. Having to leave school at 12 to help provide for her family and battle through the War and Great Depression, she was a woman full of strength and resolve. In 1958 she came to Canada with my 10 year old brother, just one year after my father. Despite having no means, no formal education or language our parents welcomed the opportunity to work hard to provide a future for their children in Toronto. Growing up I remember mom walking miles to grocery shop, hours washing our clothes by hand and mending our torn garments so that we would always look our best. She was always around for whatever we needed. From a lifetime of cooking and cleaning to supporting and holding us when we were sick, my brother and I always knew unconditional love. Her biggest joy, to the very end was her grandchildren. They filled her with life whenever they were around. As I sit here quietly, writing this by your bedside, I want you to know that I love you dearly and that you will always live inside of me. I owe my life to you and dad as you both sacrificed yours for Andy and me. Myself Phillip and my wife Maria and our precious children Peter, Stephanie, Michael and Anthony survive my mother. She is now with her husband Peter and my only brother Andy watching over us all. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2nd from 4-8 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street (at Goulding, south of Steeles). Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 3rd at 10 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 3840 Finch Avenue East. Interment York Cemetery. Condolences may be made at
