QUIN FILGIANO Obituary

QUIN C. FILGIANO (1927-2010) Passed away peacefully at his home on December 22, 2010 in his 84th year. It is with great sadness that family and friends mourn his passing. Quin is predeceased by his wife and best friend of 47 years Peggy (née Newman). Quin was born in Hamilton, Ontario to the late Cyril George Filgiano DCM & Bar, MM and the late Beatrice Filgiano (née Quinlan). Also predeceased by his sister Doris Pritchard of Toronto and his brother Dan of Midland, Ontario. Proud father to Tom (Monique), Ellen Sinclair (Jim), Gerry (Summer), Dan (Julia) and Paul (Christine). Beloved Papa to Lisa, Laurie, Carolyn, Greg, Ian, Ken, Tom, Kate, Marcia, Matthew, Megan, Louise, Susan and Sarah. He will be greatly missed by his sister-in-law Joyce Filgiano, and his dear friend Lily Nagy. Quin entered the family business, Meldrum the Mover Inc., in Montreal in 1953 and over the next 40 years, oversaw its growth and expansion. A prominent member of the moving industry, Quin served as a director of Allied Van Lines Ltd. Quin was also an inspiration to many throughout his 20 plus years with Dale Carnegie, instructing both the Dale Carnegie Public Speaking Course as well as the Dale Carnegie Sales Course in Canada, the United States and the Caribbean. Throughout his life, Quin pursued his passions for sailing, travel and genealogy and this past summer published his autobiography and family history. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Nancy Angrove for her selfless care and friendship and to Dr. Lucie Lajoie for her unstinting care and compassion. A memorial and celebration of his life will be held at his home on Saturday, January 22nd from noon to 4:00 p.m. All friends and family will be welcomed.
