Our family attended Humber Valley United Church in the 1960s and 1970s and I took piano lessons from Mr. Gould at lunch hour when I attended Humber Valley school in the '60s. I remember him as a very patient teacher. I am still playing the piano (although still not that well) sixty years on, thanks to Mr. Gould. One year I broke the middle finger on my left hand a few days before the annual recital and Mr. Gould wrote a short piece for me to play at the recital that did not require use of the broken finger. I still play that piece whenever I sit down at the piano.

I served in the Jr. Choir at Humber Valley United Church for several years. He was a great Choirmaster - always dedicated to his craft. He taught my sister and brother piano. So, I remember him coming to our home on many occasions. He was a true artist that also served as an anchor for our church. I will always have fond memories of Mr. Gould. May God Bless Him.

My name is Ken Elliott. When I was a young boy, my family attended Wesley Mimico United Church. My parents were George and Berneta Elliott. My grandfather was Theodore (Ted) Togers. All were long time Wesley members. Mr Gould was my first piano teacher. I remember how patient he was with me. He gave me a good start, in a love for music. I fondly remember Mr. Gould, dressed in his academic gown, sitting at the console of the pipe organ and bringing out wonderful sounds and music, while his hands and feet ran over the keys, pedals and stops, as he conducted the choir with his head and his hand. The love of music he started has stayed with me ever since. Thanks Mr. Gould, rest in peace, and condolences to his widow and family. Ajax, ON

Dear Mrs. Gould, Mavis, Kevin and families: I was so very sorry to see that Mr. Gould passed away last week. We just lost my mom as well. As you know Gaye and I had many years of piano lessons with him ( Gaye more successfully than me) and of course we went through all the choirs at Humber Valley. I just found a program from one of the concerts when we were in the Chapel Tones. 88 keys and Ray! He was gentle, kind and so talented. I also think of David often. Love to you all, and strength at this most difficult time. Robyn McDonald and family
