Reid Scott Obituary

SCOTT, Reid —

His Honour Judge Reid Scott (retired) BA, QC, born October 23, 1926, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2016 at Ajax Pickering Hospital. He is survived by his four children: Janette, Karen, Lesley and Greg; his four grandchildren: Lindsey, Michael, Katie and Sash; his sister Betty and her family.

He is remembered with love by his family and friends but also for his many years of public service. As an honour graduate of the University of Toronto with honour degrees in Economics and Political Science and a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, he used his personal and professional expertise to aid and change many lives. Through his service as an elected Member of the Ontario Legislature, Member of the House of Commons, an Alderman for the City of Toronto, Lawyer and a Provincial Court Judge, he has made a lasting impact on the community. During his time as a Member of the House of Commons, he was selected to be a Member of the Parliamentary Committee tasked to select Canada's National Flag. He was the last surviving member of that committee. He considered his presence on that committee and his contribution to the selection of Canada's National Flag to be one of his most important and proudest moments. Reid Scott's life will be celebrated on March 19th at a private gathering of family and friends.
