Richard Chubb Obituary

RICHARD McKINNON CHUBB, P.Eng. October 2, 1935 - March 1, 2012 In his 77th year, Richard McKinnon Chubb of Port Hope, Ontario (formerly of Toronto and Peterborough) peacefully passed away at the Golden Plough Lodge in Cobourg after a very courageous battle with cancer. Richard is survived by his three daughters, Kathryn Crowe (Tim Charlton), Rosemary Duiker (Mark) of Toronto, Carolyn Chubb of Vancouver and their mother, Dorothy Chubb. Richard was a loving granddad to Robert (Wee Mac) and Ryan (Chopper Chubb) Charlton. He will be cherished forever. He will also be sadly missed by his three sisters Annabel Thorpe (Peter), Sue Tefft (Don) of Port Hope, Marty Royle of Pickering and by Sheila White of Lindsay. Richard enjoyed a long and distinguished career with Alfa Laval - Marine Division, travelling locally and abroad. As a Bach music enthusiast, a Tafelmusik supporter, an avid cottager, a skilled bowler, a member of Probus and the Cobourg Air Force Wing, a driver for Community Care and Canadian Cancer Society, and affectionately noted for his dry wit, Richard, a true gentleman, will be missed terribly. Family and friends are warmly invited to a Celebration of Life service to be held at St. Mark's Anglican Church, 53 King St. in Port Hope on Saturday, March 10th at 11:00 a.m. A reception of light refreshments will follow in St. Mark's Hall. The family is grateful to the nursing staff at the Golden Plough Lodge for the excellent and compassionate care they have recently provided. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Richard's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.

My sympathies to my fellow Chubbs. My Mom, Elizabeth "Kit" Chubb just died a few days ago also, in Kingston. She did many good deeds through her long life and we celebrated her rich life on Sunday, March 4th. I wish for you all that you can celebrate all the good Richard "Dick" did through his life as well. We regret we cannot join you March 10th in remembering him. Please accept Condolenses from the Kingston/Ottawa Chubbs.

added comments:Dick and i worked together at kodak one summer. As we lived within 5 blocks we often went to the local pub for a libation after studying. Dick was a "charter member' of the Wolf pack consisting of Doug Rhodda, Dave Dean, Larry Leet and I who had excursions together of wild and crazy events sometimes dangerous in retrospect. In closing I say "Vaya con Dios, mi amigo or as he was wont to say
"allez avec Dieu, mon ami.
A la prochaine, au reviour BBB

All of his classmates at the University of Toronto, Chem Eng 5T9 are saddened to hear of his death. We spent four years together in the late 50's and were pleased that Dick (as we knew him), joined us for our 50th class reunion in the Spring of 2009 and will miss him at our 55th in 2014,

So sorry to hear of Richard's passing.
Got to know Richard pretty well in recent
years through Probus Club and 401 Wing of
the Air Force Association. He certainly
waged a battle to the end.
