RICHARD POWELL Obituary

POWELL, RICHARD (RICK) It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Rick on Thursday, January 6, 2022. He will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend, Mary (Bigioni), daughter Jennifer Clement (Tim) and precious granddaughters Charli and Marlowe. Loving brother to Debbie Blair (Don). Beloved uncle to the Lee, Bigioni, Foscarini and Blair nieces and nephews, and many much loved cousins. Predeceased by most loving parents Alf and Rene Powell and sister Brenda. A wonderful and caring man throughout his life, Rick has richly earned the love and respect of family and friends. We are grateful for the extraordinary and compassionate care of his oncology team at Markham Stouffville Hospital led by Dr. Sam Babac, and palliative care Dr. Patterson as well as lovely nurse Maria. With this devastating loss, for a time, there is a diminishing of light and laughter in our world. We love you Ricky. You will never be forgotten. Friends will be received at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street N. (Markham Road) Markham, on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 1 p.m. until time of service in the chapel at 2 p.m. Spots are limited, we kindly ask you to reserve your spot at www.dixongarland.com. You can also access the livestream on the same webpage. As per the family's request, proof of vaccination is required. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Markham Stouffville Oncology Centre, or to honour Rick's love of animals, (especially his golden kids Hailey, Sadie, Finnegan) a donation to an animal rescue group.

Dear Mary, Jenn, Tim and Family: We are so sorry for your loss. Our hearts are broken for you. We loved our visits, phone calls and emails with Rick and Mary. Only a month ago, we had a very spirited conversation thanks to Rick's passionate advice. We sure will miss you and your apple pies. Colleen & Kevin

We have such fond memories of Rick ambling along the road to say hello to two little boys (David and Jamie) who had just moved into No. 318. He was great playing with then and we enjoyed watching Rick grow through different phases of his life - the limos parked on the street were particularly fun. He was a gentle, loving man always cheerful in his greeting of people. Our hearts are sad, Much love, Carol and Bob

Rick had a great sense of humor. I met Rick through work and we hit it off even though I was his boss. His knowledge in his trade was greatly appreciated all the time. He had this dry humor and we teased each other (princess). I will miss talking shop, F1 and talking about cars. A great soul

I've know Rick from high school. Rick and I were great friends. I remember when he had his mini he had my dad paint JPS on the doors. This is a picture when we were in Florida. We will miss him. So sorry for your loss. My condolences to the family

Dear Mary and Family: Greg and I were indeed very sad to hear of Rick's passing. We met Rick at "the Lake" in 1992 and continued to enjoy him and his gigantic laugh each year as the Lake thawed and we paddled by. His current "Golden" adored Rick...2 best friends! Rick will be greatly missed. He has left us many memories. Thinking of you all...
