Rita MAY Obituary

MAY, Rita (nee BIDWELL) With deep sadness we announce the passing of Rita May on December 11, 2022, at age 93. Born December 4, 1929, in England, she immigrated to Canada with her husband, Bevan, and sons, Stephen and David, in 1959. Rita worked numerous jobs before being hired as a Matron for Toronto Police Service at 55 Division, a job she loved. Predeceased by beloved husband, Bev; son, Dave; and siblings, Violet, John, Phyllis, Joan, George, Joyce, Peter and Marg. Rita loved to host large family gatherings where tales were told, songs sung and glasses raised in honour of the cook. Survived by son, Steve; daughters-in-law, Tracey and Joan. Fondly remembered by grandchildren, Stacey (De), Stephanie (Steve), Jonathan (Emily), Liam and Rory; and great-grandchildren, James, Kayla, Abby and Ally. Thank you to Kate and the caregivers and nurses on Sandy Beach wing at Bay Ridges LTC. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita's memory made to the Alzheimer Society of Durham would be appreciated. Cremation has been arranged and a memorial service will take place in Spring 2023. Condolences at: [email protected]

Growing up I recall Christmas Dinner at a very long table in Aunt Rita´s basement. She also hosted some lively New Year´s Eve parties. Always a hard worker who knew how to laugh and have fun. Thank you for always offering a cup of tea and speaking your mind.

Oh the fun we used to have as a family through the years and mainly at Aunt Rita's house, always a singalong, often a dance, great fun and memories I will always treasure

I will really miss Rita during our music sing-a-longs at Bay Ridges. A lovely lady with a wonderful voice who knew all the words to the songs. Condolences.
