Robert ALIE Obituary

ALIE, Robert Arthur Joseph December 11, 1932 - May 18, 2022 Born in Hull, Québec to Ida Alie (née Guénette) and Arthur Alie; brother to Gerald Alie and Rolande Gibson (née Alie). Passed away peacefully at home, with his beloved wife of 61 years, Eileen Alie (nee Morrison), by his side, by whom he will be dearly missed. Loving father of Vivian Alie, Carolyn Alie and husband Dr. Dennis Dionne. Grandpa Bob to Gabrielle and Alexandre Dionne. A celebration of his life will be held at the family cottage in Lantier, Québec in mid summer. There once was a man from Hull Whose life was anything but dull He could sing he could dance Knew how to romance And no one could resist his pull From piano to trumpet He was never a puppet Knew how to create Didn't mind a mistake And always stayed in the pocket From models big and small He sure could build them all Be it a cottage or a train A boat or a plane It all started in Montreal Once at the lake he never took a break There were bonfires to build, boats to fix Gas tanks to fill and Caesars to mix An afternoon nap he never would take So instead blew his horn to fire up the lake From the day he was born Music was in his life And so through the years But most certainly through our tears We will still hear his horn Playing on from dusk til morn Two daughters and a wife Made his family complete A son-in-law and grandchildren made it all the more sweet. From Hull to Windsor he avoided all strife These are the things that made a full life Arrangements entrusted to Marcotte Funeral Home (12105 Tecumseh Rd. E., Windsor, ON (519-735-2830)). Pat & Linda

Bob was a terrific man. He was always smiling, always welcoming.
My favourite memory of Bob was when Pat & I had been over for a visit and were talking with Eileen about an upcoming trip to Switzerland to see the World's Curling Championships. Eileen hadn't planned on going, but was asking us all about it. A few days later, Eileen returned home from curling to find that Bob had (I think) hung some airline tickets and some Swiss francs from the light in the hallway. She wasn't part of the tour that we had booked, but Bob said not to worry, the girls would look after her. We had a fantastic trip with Eileen because Bob surprised her with such a wonderful gesture.
We are so sorry to hear of his passing.

We loved Bob dearly - he was larger than life. Happy memories include his search for the perfect Date Nut Loaf, his appreciation for goos food and drink despite Drs advice, tickling the ivories playing Gershwin songs for me by request and especially "Summertime". Sitting at the piano with all 3 of our children. Bob was generous with his caring ways and I will never forget him. Godspeed Bob as you descend to the Great Beyond.
