Robert Clint Obituary

ROBERT (BOB) CLINT June 3, 1925 - December 27, 2008 We are deeply saddened to announce the death of our father, Robert Clint, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Bob is predeceased by his beautiful wife of 53 years, Betty, and his sister, May Loats. He leaves his children, Robert Clint, Susan and Ed Attar, and Janice and John Farmer, and the grandchildren he loved so much, Christopher, Mark, Lauren, Nicole and John Robert. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Bob attended the Woodside School, and was scouted for the Glasgow Rangers Football Club in his youth. In 1943, he joined the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm as an electrician, and worked with Spitfires and Lancaster bombers at the Castle Bromwich air station near Birmingham, England. Towards the end of the war, he was assigned to HMS Formidable. Dad had lots of interesting and funny stories to tell about his mates, but only rarely did he speak of the more somber side of his war service. After the war, Bob immigrated to Canada, where he met his wife, Betty. Dad's greatest love was his family and friends, and he was always there with a discreet helping hand. Bob was a 60-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW, Local 353), working in many locations, including the Victory Mills, Ford, and Howard's Electric, before starting his own business. Many thanks to the staff at the Meadowvale Unit of the Village of Erin Meadows in Mississauga, who were like family for Dad during his most difficult years. Dad always said that if you loved, and were loved, that you had it all. Dad had it all. We will miss him always. Friends will be received at Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Road, Scarborough (between Eglinton and St. Clair Aves. E.) on Tuesday from 6 - 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 11 a.m. Bob's final resting place will be Pine Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the Clint family would appreciate donations to your favourite charity.

In the summer of 1988 Uncle Bob and Aunt Betty hosted two 16 year old girls from the West. They were so welcoming. Our post-grad adventure was fantastic and included: watching John Wayne's The Quiet Man with Uncle Bob and "really" learning how to iron a dress shirt from Aunt Betty. Great memories, great people, great love.

We'll ALWAYS remember the good times we had, gathered as a family, at one of the most coziest of homes we know-21 Chestnut Crescent! Andy always said the drive from
St. Catharines was well worth it- for Bobby's delicious BBQ and his pork tenderloin along with Betty's "lovely wee cup o' tea". The laughs we had with you and May are sure to keep us smiling. Thank you for that and all that you did for us.
Rest in peace Bobby.
From your cousin, Maureen, husband Andy and Children.
