ROBERT MALCOLM Obituary

ROBERT MALCOLM With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce that our dear, sweet, irreverent Robbie passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the age of 55. Rob died peacefully in the most enchanted place in the world to him, his home. Preceded by his father, James Malcolm, Rob will be deeply missed by his mother, Orlean Malcolm of Kingston, Ontario; his brother Scott Malcolm and sister-in-law Jennifer Schofield, nieces Kerri and Rhianna, all of Georgetown, Ontario; and his sister Sandy (Hopkinson) Malcolm and brother-in-law Paul Hopkinson, niece Laura and nephew Jimmy, all of Stittsville, Ontario. Robbie will also be missed by his family of friends that span decades of laughter, song, travels and joy. There will be two celebrations of Rob's life. The first, hosted by Rob's family, will be held at Cooke's Portsmouth United Church, 200 Norman Rogers Rd. in Kingston, ON on Saturday, January 21st from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The second celebration of Rob's life, hosted by his family of friends, will be held at the Metropolitan Community Church, 115 Simpson Ave., Toronto, ON, on Thursday, January 26th. Celebration at 7:00 p.m., Reception to follow in church hall at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rob's name can be made to the Actors Fund of Canada (416-975-0304/ 1-877-399-8392). The AFC supports actors in need, a cause - and profession - that was very close to Rob's heart. Robbie lived 100 years worth of life to the fullest, compressed within the short 55 years we had to love him. His family and friends will miss him more than we can say.

Rob, my old roomie and partner in crime!
I won't forget those long, boozy nights in our little apartment! Chopping up and throwing our useless fireplace out the 4th storey window at 3AM! Gone too soon!

Myself, Lawrence Stevenson and Rob Malcolm were the three founding members of the vocal ensemble "FROOLAHZ". The three of us met in the '80's performing with the Toronto Mens Chorus. We fast became good friends and shared a lot of years together. No matter the location of our event, the number of costume changes or the lack of rehearsal, "On With The Show" we'd go. Being so blessed like many others, Rob gave friendship, laughter and songs to my life. With memories I treasure and love in my heart, you are greatly missed.

Such a great guy. Knew him through work for over 20 years. Always up, fun and, as the obit mentioned so preciously, irreverent. Which was what made him the fascinating, yet incredibly professional and talented man that he was. To so many of our long liquid lunches, excellent brainstorms and to a person I admired and respected. Greatest respect and regards to family and friends. Surely a one-of-a-kind. Sad.

Wow. Shocked to hear of Rob's passing. He was a lovely guy. Knew him way back in Kingston days at Cookes-Portsmouth Church and then in high school musicals. Sending love from New Zealand to Scott, Sandy and all the family. Rest in peace dear sweet Rob.

So very, very sad to learn we've lost Rob. First met him 30 years ago when we worked together - everything was doable, everything was worth a big laugh. And it was on the worst days that we laughed the most. Hope you are dancing right now Rob with a cocktail in hand but know you are already missed here.

Met Rob almost 40 years ago. Was always very kind and gentle to me. Just recently connected by a chance meeting on the TTC in Toronto. I knew him immediately and he was warm and open as usual. Have been chatting some since then. He brings back so many memories I wouldn't know where to begin. Will be sadly missed. This one really hit home. He will always be a young lad to me.
