ROBERT MUNRO Obituary
MUNRO, ROBERT CAMERON GILBERTSON Robert Cameron Gilbertson Munro was born in Hamilton, Ontario on August 6, 1944 and passed away in Calgary, Alberta on December 19, 2021, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Rob was a loving father and husband and a model of integrity, both in his career and in his personal life. As an executive in the Canadian mining and resource industry, Rob travelled to the far corners of the world. Physically fit, almost to the end, Rob was still exercising this year at his favourite gym and recently achieved his later in life dream of becoming a certified Personal Trainer. His sons, Tristan and Tyler remember him as their "MacGyver", a father who was always helping with their many projects. He was playful and shared many happy times with them in Muskoka's Lake of Bays, fishing, skiing and hockey. Rob was a wonderful Dad, who continually encouraged his sons to actively pursue their passions. In the Fall of 2021, Rob made one final visit to Muskoka, where he shared one last boat ride, campfire, and sunsets on the beach, with his sons and their families, He is survived by his loving wife, Bernadette Taylor-Hill of Calgary, Alberta; his eldest son Tristan Munro and his wife Marianna and their four children, Addison, Nathaniel, Emmie, and Milana; his son Tyler Munro and his wife, Crystal Khalek. Rob is also survived by his brother; Iain Munro and his wife Viviane; and his sister, Christine Langsford. Also deeply missing their Uncle Rob are his many nephews and nieces and their families: Heather Langsford, Kyla Munro, Adrienne Munro and her son Logan; Matthew Langsford and his wife Carla and their children, Ella and Drew; Michael Langsford and his wife Lisa and their children, Spencer and Alex; and Gordon Hain, and his siblings, Bain and Cara and her family. Rob was loved and admired by everyone who was privileged to know him. He will be remembered with much love and greatly missed by us all. A memorial service will take place in the summer of 2022. His friends, family, and colleagues will be notified as soon as details are known. After the service, Rob's ashes will be laid to rest in his beloved Muskoka.
