Robert PEASTON Obituary

PEASTON, Robert Logue - On June 9, 2013 after a brief illness, Bob (Logue), 62, passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital. He was born in Greenock, Scotland and was an early computer enthusiast, taking his training at the University of Manchester. Immigrating to Canada in 1974 he worked for a number of top computer companies. He was an avid boater who had enjoyed sailing the Caribbean and the Great Lakes. His easygoing personality and quiet sense of humour endeared him to many. He will be missed by his friends and family in Canada and in Scotland. There will be a private cremation. A celebration of his life will be held later this summer. "But pleasures are like poppies spread You seize the flow'r, its bloom is shed Or like the snow falls in the river A moment white then melts for ever." - Robbie Burns

Robert was my supervisor when I worked for Texas Instruments in Richmond Hill 1974-75 and then my housemate when a room became available in the house on Yonge St. that he was sharing with Ken Solly. Many nights spent at the Black Hawk Motor Inn, we seldom went home before last call. I don´t know if Bob got as hung over as myself, but neither of us ever missed a day of work because of them

I recall a trip to the Quebec Winter Carnival with Bob and Ken. It was a lot of fun. On the way back, tho, the windshield wipers on Bob's Datsun gave out on the 401, Ken had to lean out the window to preserve our visibility. Later on that spring my dad passed suddenly and Bob provided me an emergency loan to fly home. He was a great guy...

I am very sorry to hear about Bob's untimely departure. Bob was a generous colleague and a great friend, with a fantastic sense of humour. I'll miss him greatly. My condolences to Tamara and to Bob's family. My guess is he's probably having a drink and a few laughs with our great mutual friend Paul Maasland right now.

Rest in peace Bob. I only knew you for a few short months but a gentler soul could not be imagined.
