YATABE, Robert Masao 1914 - 2017 PeacefuIly passed away at the age of 103 on August 13, 2017 at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Toronto, surrounded by family. Survived by his beloved wife Amy and his children Wayne (Karen), Heather and Sharon (Ron). A loving grandfather to Kyle and Ryan. He will be fondly remembered and missed by his brother Min (Lydia) and sister Mari Hirano (late Gus), brother-in-law Kit Kitagawa (Polly) and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Eiji (Kazuko), Phil (late Lorraine and Irene), Tom (Roe) and his sisters Koto Adachi (late Terry) and Yosh Kiyonaga (late Jerry). Mas will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, his quiet and genuine manner, easy laugh and vice-like grip when he shook your hand. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the CCAC home support workers and the staff at St. Joseph's Health Centre for their care and compassion. Visitation (August 17, 2017, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.) and funeral service (August 18, 2017 at 11 a.m.) will be held at Highland Funeral Home, 3280 Sheppard Avenue E., Scarborough, ON. The funeral service will be followed by interment at Highland Memory Gardens and a reception at Highland Funeral Home.
