CHIDLEY, Rodney - 1924 - 2009 Sadly, on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, Rod passed away in St. Catharines. Rod was the beloved husband of Anne, his wife and best friend. Theirs was a love story that endured for over 65 years. Rod was a supportive, loving and much admired dad of Wendy (Peter) Joseph, Bill (Ellen) Chidley and Cathy (Mel) Spagnuolo. He was a wonderful role model, who offered his wise counsel and support to them, in all of their endeavours. He shared a special bond with each of his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, Sandi (Kevin), Bob (Emily), Katie, Jennie, Kayla and Dylan. They celebrated wonderful family occasions with their granddad, always there to listen to them, offering unconditional love and support. Predeceased by grandson Christopher and parents William and Mildred Chidley. Rod was a loving brother to Merrick, June, Muriel and Betty. Predeceased by sisters Thelma, Joanne and Vivian. Rod was just 19 years old when he enlisted in the Air Force during W.W. II, serving his country as a Flight Sergeant Rear Gunner on a Lancaster Bomber as part of the Squadron 434. He also worked for over 30 years at Lyon's Tea and then Cadbury Beverages, where he was well respected and liked by all who worked with him. Rod will be most remembered for the wisdom and strength that he so generously gave to his family, for his honour, his humour and his endless love. He will be forever missed. Rod's family will receive friends at the LAMB- BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME, 2 Regent St., Thorold on Friday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in The Lamb Chapel on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. A private family interment will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St. Catharines.
