Rudy Ten-TUSSCHER Obituary

ten-TUSSCHER, Rudy Jan —

September 29, 1958 - May 17, 2016

Passed away at the age of 57 at Southlake Residential Care Village, Newmarket following a valiant effort to survive a benign brain tumour. Survived by his dear mother Anne ten-Tusscher, adored sister Tricia Chatfield, love and soulmate Jan Miller and treasured daughter Jackie ten-Tusscher. Predeceased by his deeply loved father Frans ten-Tusscher (2010). Rudy was a unique, "out-of-the-box" individual. He made his living specializing in waterline and drain service plumbing having developed a successful company Drains at Work. In later years, Rudy dedicated his life to creating a water filtration and treatment system that he hoped would one day provide clean, healing water globally. Rudy, at his heart, was a gentle soul. He strove to learn from lessons of his past and better himself as a human being. He loved people and nature. He sought ways of inspiring people around him to broaden their horizons beyond the status quo and to choose to dedicate their lives to making a difference for the betterment of humanity. Rudy made a difference in the lives of all he crossed paths with. A Memorial Service will be held at Simple Alternative (275 Lesmill Rd., Toronto) from 12 until 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016.

Rudy was a long time friend and a good person. Since we were in high school together Rudy always showed compassion and empathy where others may not have noticed or had the time to care. Rudy was an exceptional individual with unique ideas. He would always find a way to look at a situation in a way that no one else would consider.
Rudy was encouraging in all things creative. When exploring new ideas he was right there to provide support. If he thought I had a bad idea he would be the first to tell me, but always had an alternative suggestion.
There was a long period of time when Rudy and I were not in contact. In the past seven years we had the chance to re-connect and catch up. In the past couple of years it was difficult to see Rudy suffer as he did. Although it didn't seem to be that he was in pain, I know that he was very distressed by what was happening and was always looking for a solution to his illness. Fortunately, Rudy had people around him who loved him very much. In particular, his Mom (Anne) and Sister (Tricia) and most notably his partner Jan were all there to support him daily and I know it was very challenging. Rudy had many friends who came to visit him as well.
My thoughts and prayers are with all those who were close to Rudy.
Rudy will be missed.
May God bless you and keep you my friend!
