RUTH CALVERT Obituary

CALVERT, RUTH ELIZABETH (nee SORENSEN) May 25, 1929 - February 28, 2022 On a crisp winter morning at sunrise, our beloved mother passed peacefully. Loving mother to Laurie (Chris) and Corrinne (Craig) and stepmother to Linda, Karen, Miriam, Delia, and Victoria and their partners. Ever-devoted Nana to grandchildren Matthew, Cameron, Erica, Katie, Jenny, Mark, Carmen, Paul, Miriam, Lianne, Derek, Harris, Matthew, Adam, Alana, and Angela. Dedicated wife of the late Jack Calvert. Predeceased by her cherished brother and his wife, Herb and Barb. Ruth had many passions throughout her life including her love of teaching, world travel, theatre, curling, golfing, tennis, lawn bowling, bridge, cribbage, and puzzles of all varieties. She was always keen on any adventures with her family and played the best hand she could with the cards that life dealt her. She set the gold standard for kindness and care of her family and friends. She always remembered special occasions with a card handwritten in her beautiful turquoise cursive. We have so many happy memories to keep her alive in our hearts. We will miss her dearly but take some comfort knowing she is free of pain and in a better place. Her greatest legacy will be the love and devotion she shared and inspired within her family. There will be a celebration of Ruth's life at a later date.

I was privileged to know Ruth as my 2nd grade teacher at Duke of Connaught, but also a family friend. When we lived in Brampton, she comforted our family when our youngest son was killed. She was always a gracious and lovely person and will be greatly missed.
