FILANOWSKI, RUTH JOAN (nee PENFOUND) June 13, 1957 – December 28, 2021 Ruth passed away after a courageous battle with heart disease. Her heart was too large to contain her spirit. Beloved wife of David and loving mother and mother-in-law of Chris Rizzo (Sham) and Danielle King (Josh). Cherished grandmother of Amelia and Isabella Rizzo and Nora King. Dearly missed by her brother Victor Penfound (Anitia) and her sister Joan Misketis (Bill) and all nieces and nephews. Ruth will be remembered as a strong-willed (and sometimes feisty), caring and selfless woman who lived a full life on her own terms. She was generous with her time to everyone who needed a shoulder to lean on and understanding and patient to all. Ruth will be cremated, and burial will be attended by immediate family only. A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer when Ruth's garden is in bloom. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sunnybrook Foundation would be appreciated.
