RUTH SWANNEY

1941 - 2022

SWANNEY, RUTH Ruth Grace Swanney (nee Ferrier), longtime resident of Markham. Our Beloved Mother passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus and is rejoicing in God's presence at the age of 80 on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Bethany Courts surrounded by her family. Her final two and half years, were spent fighting cancer with her usual spark and fire. Born on June 7, 1941 in Toronto to John and Una (nee Taylor) Ferrier. She was the fourth of seven children born. She had three sisters and two brothers, Helen (John), Joan (William), Margie, John, Lois (Raymond), and Norton (Carol). She was predeceased by her sisters, Margie and Lois. Ruth married Peter Swanney on January 2, 1965 in a snow storm, at Eglinton Gospel Hall and they had 57 beautiful years together, before Ruth went home to be with her Lord and Saviour. Ruth leaves behind her two daughters Elizabeth (Americo) and Sarah, whom she raised faithfully in God's Word, and her two grandchildren, Taylor and Matthew. As well as the many nieces and nephews and her many dear friends and acquaintances that she met along her journey at Camp Mini-Yo-We, Double Diamond Bowling, Scripture Union, Bestview Long Term Care, Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, Unionville Gospel Hall and Markham Bible Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth Swanney's name to Markham Bible Chapel, MSC Canada (Missionary Services) and Prison Fellowship Canada. Visitation to be held Thursday, March 3rd, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham.
