FRANKLING, Samuel Roy, Dr. B.A., MD., FRCS - Peacefully at The Village of Erin Meadows, Mississauga on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in his 92 year; beloved husband of the late Hazel Elizabeth Haney (2001); loved father of Carol Anne and her husband Dr. Hugh Drouin, Samuel Robert, and William (Bill) and Sherri; dear grandfather of Samara Kells (Jonathan), Genevieve Drouin (Bill Thompson), Jeremie Drouin (Marlene), Patricia, Julia and Sean Frankling; great-grandfather of Micah, Lilah, Jane, Xavier and Isabelle; dear brother of Joyce Bell, David Frankling and Hazel Boyce. Samuel will also be missed by nieces and nephews and many friends. Samuel and Hazel were married in 1941 before he went overseas as a Squadron Leader in the R.C.A.F. He flew Lancaster bombers and was decorated with the D.F.C. He graduated from University of Toronto in Medicine in 1949 and practised family medicine in Orangeville for 9 years where he delivered several hundred babies. He graduated in Ophthalmology in 1961 and practised in Mississauga until his retirement in 1990. He was one of the first Ophthalmologists in Mississauga and Chief Ophthalmologist at Mississauga Hospital for many years. He was a member of the Christian Medical Society, Full Gospel Businessmen, Little Trinity Anglican Church, Church of the Messiah, and most recently Trinity Anglican Church in Streetsville. Service will be held at Dods and McNair Funeral Home & Chapel, 21 First St., Orangeville at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2011. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Orangeville. Memorial donation in memory of Samuel may be made to Inter--Varsity Christian Fellowship. A tree will be planted in memory of Samuel in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville.
