Sheldon Sugden Obituary

SHELDON ANDREW SUGDEN January 16, 1952 -- June 6, 2009 It is with extreme sadness we announce the passing of our father on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Southlake Regional Health Centre after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. He will be sadly missed by his children Blake, Taylor and Julia Sugden and their mother Sharon Barry. Loving son of the late Dorothy and Maxwell "Bill" Sugden. Caring brother of Travis (Jonna), Dale, Garry (Gina) and Bonnie (Richard) and loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Sheldon will be fondly remembered by Kimberly Mihalcheon and her children Ryan, Meredith and Austin McNamee. Sheldon was an executive Vice-President of North American Development Group. He had been with the company for over twenty years when he was forced into an early retirement by his Parkinson's Disease. He will be greatly missed by his friends and colleagues. Sheldon made and maintained many close friendships during his life. He stayed close to his Stouffville roots and there will be many fond memories of his waterskiing days with his buddies in Haliburton and Muskoka. The family would like to thank Billy for his kindness and care of Sheldon during the last several years. We would also like to thank Dad's very dear friends John, Don and Dean for their never-ending love and support of Sheldon and our family. We know he has a special place in your hearts. Thank you Sheldon, for showing us how to live life to the fullest and how to stay positive, strong and hopeful until the end. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home (530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, 905-727-5421) on Thursday, June 11th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A celebration of Sheldon's life will be held at Station Creek Golf Course, 12657 Woodbine Avenue, Gormley, Ontario on Sunday, June 28th, 2009 from 3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson Society of Canada or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. My sincere condolences to Sheldon's family and freinds. He was an inspiration and mentor to me during my competitive water skiing days in the early to mid 1970's. I spent many great days skiing with he and John Preston in the black hydrodyne at Puslinch Lake. The wonderful memories and positive impact he made on so many people will remain with us forever.

Sorry to hear of Sheldon's death. I have many fond memories of the years Sheldon and Gary spent competing in water ski tournaments in Ontario and across Canada. Many of us had a great time with them the several years they spent training with their black hydrodyne on Puslinch Lake.

Sheldon was a fabulous guy and a great friend of mine dating back to the 70's. We got together only infrequently during the past 30 years, but each time we did the conversation seemed to start up precisely where we had left off the time before. The world will seem a much smaller place without Sheldon in it. Sincere condolences to family and friends alike.

Dear Sharon...My heart goes out to you and your family. Where did all the years go. Last time I saw you and Sheldon was right after you got married, he was carrying you around your Dad's kitchen, you were expecting your first child together. The prince and his princess. Time has taken us all on different journeys, but our roots bring us all together when fate calls. My thoughts and prayers go out to all your families and friends.
