Shirley REEVES Obituary

REEVES, Shirley Frances - August 31, 1926 - February 2, 2017 Shirley passed away early on February 2, 2017 in her 91st year. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Clarence George and Ivy Irene (nee Down) of Toronto, as well as her sister Mary and brother- in-law Russ Chard and only niece Alison and sister-in-law Janice (nee Dick). She is survived by her brother Ross Reeves of Oakville and five nephews and their families, including seven great-nephews, one great-niece and one great-great- niece. Shirley was born in Toronto and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1948. She served as a Teacher in Stouffville, Dunnville and Napanee before settling for many years as a high school Teacher in Newmarket. As a Teacher, she enjoyed many treasured summers at the family cottage on Bass Lake, near Orillia. After retiring, Shirley returned to live in Toronto to care for her mother. She was a volunteer at St. John the Baptist Norway Anglican Church and a supporter of many charities. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John the Baptist Norway Anglican Church, 470 Woodbine Ave. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation commencing in the church at 10 a.m. A reception to follow the service.
